2000th RUN WEEKEND-
OCTOBER 11 & 12

RUN REPORT
Brisbane Hash House Harriers 2000
Run 9-10-11th October 2008
The Prelube.
A great "meet and greet" at the Shafston Hotel, organised by V.D., saw a few ales consumed and old friendships renewed.
Eight past GMs were there , including Rip Van Winkle, Snappy Tom, Vasoline, Twin Tub ,Shat Meatihore, Monty, Anchovy, and present GM Radar.
Spinifex , now at Botany Bay Hash , BedPan ,Cleo, Archives and Yum Yum also appeared out of the wood work. Beach Ball, Hoof, Mortein and Zit mingled and Kank was there from Broken Hill. Sir Whines A Lot, visitor, from Winnipeg, Canada also was into lubrication. Later in the evening Metatarsole from Newcastleand Slipher a Bundy from Illawarra joined the drinkers.
A great location to kick start the weekend!! The 2000th Run After an adventurous drive via Mt Cotton, we finally found the venue. Unlike Cleo, who drove around in ever decreasing circles and got lost and went home......And she was GPS powered - Was it something to do about being told to go to German Creek Road??
Upon arriving I noticed some very bright green people, one in particular Beachball, who is now known as Tennis ball milling around. No one could miss Monty and Kuntri either!!
VD sorted out everyone’s accommodation and lunch was served at 12-30.pm.
This is where the plan went awry.
What do most people do when confronted with copious amounts of yummy food??? Have a cleansing ale or two wash the delicious ham and salad rolls down...That’s what!!
Well, at approx one o’clockish JC went into "Panic Mode" "Radar, they’re drinking toooo much piss, at this rate they’ll be too pissed to do the run!!!! We will have to start the run an hr early"
I conferred with the bright green Leech, and VD to see who wasn't here yet. There were a few unaccounted for.... with Pushup a noticeable non-arriver. "What about Pushup " I said? "Stuff him, he's always late "!! Was JC's panic reply
The bad news was relayed to the runner's and with great dismay they dragged themselves away from the eskies and prepared for the early run... Whammy was most distressed!! Unfortunately the poor old hares were still out on the course setting the run. Would they return in time??? T
hank God for mobile phones as VD had managed to get on to Even Optus and side kick Licker who had to abort the last part of the trail and get back before the hares departed. Two very stuffed hares faced the assembled throng After explaining that there was walking and run trails and that Minder had indeed become somewhat "geographically isolated " setting the walker's jaunt .
The hounds were set off! And yes there may, could be a drink stop....somewhere.!!! The well-marked trail meandered along bush tracks, kept together by some good checks. Best and Less, Pussy Galore and Nuts seemed to be out the front.
Mu seemed to be having problems with the front running harrierette - Whinny the Pooh elbowing him out of the way...!! (Beaten by a girl)
Past GM and well known short cutter Junior was bringing up the rear , along with Sir Whines A Lot. I didn’t want Junior lost.
After about a half an hour of running though scrub, hopping over logs, missing mud patches etc Stirling became a bit too clever and tried "the old jump on to the slimy log trick" and fell heavily on to her ankle....
There was a bit of "Phuck well have to carry her out" but thankfully there wasn't any major damage and Junior and Stirling limped off in to the distance, under the guidance of the hares who were on the course again..
By this time Even Optus was looking quite rooted!! More bush bashing and more hills where the trail zigzagged up and down gave the back runners like Scruffy, Miles OToole, Frog’s Legs and Craft a chance to keep up. Bigamist., Slipher a Bundy and Mussels seemed to be enjoying the run. Irish Joke appeared out of the scrub, having missed a check and Kuntri showed why he hasn’t changed much by calling on to a check back.
Finally the drink stop... Precious timing, with the runners and a huge flock of walkers arriving at once. It was here that some of the late starters caught up. Driftwood, Dribbles and Ratbag among others ventured their displeasure at the early start . Meatihore, mentioned that Target was on the track - late, very late and Pushup, who had ignored the walkers and went off trail in pursuit of the "real Trail " !!!! It was the last sighting of Pushup for some time.
Finally the rehydrated runners / walkers were homeward bound but the hares had a few more hills to serve up .One in particular sorted us out. At the top there were great views to the south with the Gold Coast skyline in the distance and the islands looking very close. A pleasant descent and a nice trail to finish with. Virgin, Chardarse and Ericshun hung in to the end All agreed that the run was challenging enough and a good time frame.
The ideal running conditions also helped Pushup finally returned halfway through the circle and after the Hares went on a rescue mission.
Thanks to the hares Even Optus and Licker, who were tired lads at the end...

Radar - Grand Master
